Gorgeous Results of Sunset Senior Photos

All you need is a pretty sunset and a smile!

Good lighting can make or break a session in a matter of minutes. Sunset and sunrise are always going to be a photographer’s best friend. I’m not a stranger to shooting during sunset. In my opinion, sunsets make for warmer and more intimate photography. Campbell chose to include sunset as the main piece of her pictures. Campbell is a senior at Frankfort High and is also a part of my Team 23 group. The only request she had for her session was to include as many flowers/nature and sunset skies as possible. Elkhorn Creek, the Archives, Buffalo Trace, and Ama on The Creek were all the perfect locations to showcase exactly what Campbell wanted.

One of the images in Campbell’s gallery that perfectly captures just what the sunset can do for your pictures is a side profile shot I got of her. The whole time I was trying to get her to get this shot, she was very hesitant to get this shot from the side. She kept saying over and over how she didn’t like her side profile even though I kept pointing out the fact that I think she has a cute nose. But once we got the shot and she saw it, it became her favorite picture in the whole gallery. The sun peeking through her hair and creating the perfect shadow made for one of the best sunset photos I have ever taken. Campbell’s advice to anyone in the same position as she was is, “Try to come out of your shell a little for these pictures. And don’t be afraid to do a pose because you’re scared of how it will end up looking. Cause trust me, you'll look amazing in the end.”

These photos' purpose is to encapsulate who you are during your senior year so be sure to do just that! Show off all the sunsets, all the multi-colored flowers, all the goofy laughs/smiles, and maybe even almost fall in the creek. It’ll all be worth it. Take it from Campbell, 'cause she did it all.
